Pop Culture in the 1950s
The 1950s was the era of the baby boom. Televisions became quite popular in homes, and classic T.V. shows like I Love Lucy were created. New music emerged during this time. Rock & Roll became more popular among teens. These teenagers did not want to live up to the standards that society expected of them. The Beat Movement also emerged during this time. The movement was against the changes occurring in society during the 1950s.

 
Pop Culture in the 1960s
During the 1960s, The Beatles rose to popularity during the British Invasion. Today they still remain an extremely popular band. During this time, people started living a very carefree lifestyle, and they spent a lot of money. New and popular trends emerged during this time, including: long hair, rock music, excess drinking, and smoking. Also, the Hippie Movement grew during the time period. Hippies were people who rejected established institutions and values in their search for free love. They sought spontaneity, direct personal relations, and expanded consciousness. They often expressed their ideas externally through their clothing, which was causal and folksy, along with their beads, headbands.
